Virat Kohli is a famous Indian international cricketer who presently captains of the India national team. He is a right-handed top-order batsman, Kohli is considered one of the best batsmen in the world. Virat Kohli was Born and raised in Delhi. According to her mother, when he was 3 years old, Kohli would pick up a cricket bat, and start swinging it and ask his father to bowl at him.

Kohli’s father died on 18 December 2006 because of a stroke after being bedridden for a month.

Kohli first performed for Delhi Under-15 team in October 2002 in the 2002–03 Polly Umrigar Trophy. He was the best run-getter for his team in that match with 172 runs at an average of 34.40.

He became the captain of the team for the 2003–04 Polly Umrigar Trophy and scored 390 runs in 5 innings at an average of 78 including two centuries and two fifties.

Apart from the sports, Kohli was a good student as well, and his teachers remember him as “a bright and attentive child”.

At the of 18, Kohli made his first class debut for delhi against Tamil nadu in November 2006 and scored 10 in his debut innings. He came into the spotlight in December when he decided to play for his team against Karnataka on the day after his father’s death and went on to score 90.

His father had him enrolled at the West Delhi Cricket Academy when Virat was 9 years old. He trained at the academy under Rajkumar Sharma and also played matches at the Sumit Dogra Academy (Vasundhara Enclave).

In March 2008, Virat Kohli was bought on a youth contract by the Indian Premier League franchise Royal Challengers Bangalore for $30,000. He had a superior 2008 season, with a result of 165 runs in 12 innings at an average of 15.00 and a strike rate of 105.09. He did slightly better in the 2nd inning in which he built a total of 246 scores at 22.36, striking at over 112, while his team made it as far as the final.

In the 2010 season, Kohli was the 3rd highest run-scorer for his team with 307 runs, averaging 27.90 and improving his strike rate to 144.81.

In 2011 season, kohli was made vice-captain of the team. The coach Ray Jennings opined that the 22-year-old would become the future captain of not only the franchise but also the Indian team.

After Vettori’s retirement, Kohli was appointed as the team’s captain for the season 2013.

At the 2016 season, the RCB finished runners-up and Kohli broke the record for most runs in an IPL season (of 733 runs) by scoring 973 runs in 16 matches at an average of 81.08, and be the winner of the Orange Cap. He got four centuries in the match, having never scored one in the Twenty20 before the begin of the season, and also became the first player to lead the 4000-run milestone in the IPL.

He missed the beginning of the 2017 season because of shoulder injury. Moreover, RCB finished the tournament at the bottom of the table, with Kohli scoring the highest runs for his team, with 308 from 10 matches.

In the 2018 season, Virat Kohli was retained by RCB for a price of ₹17 crore, the highest for any player that year.
